The very first issue of Grilled Cheese was launched in June of 2014.

Ten years later, it’s with great excitement and pride that we celebrate its anniversary by publishing a special 36 pages-long issue. It includes original stories and illustrations from authors and artists that have left their mark on the magazine’s history. Made possible thanks to the financial participation of Canada Periodical Fund, this special issue is added to our regular publishing schedule for the year. Here are two options to get your hands on a complimentary copy:

  1. Join us for the launch celebration on October 4th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at La Cabane (1695 Bélanger, Montreal).
  2. Subscribe now to the magazine and receive it in the mail during the week of October 6th.

If you are already a subscriber, you will receive your magazine in the mail during the week of October 6th. That said, you can still come pick it up in person on October 4th. We would be delighted to meet you!

Illustrator Benoit Tardif created the cover and back of the magazine. .

You can find Benoit’s illustrations in issues O, 6 and 11 of the magazine.

10 things you (maybe) didn’t know about Grilled Cheese

Publisher Catherine Ouellet-Cummings reveals secret fun facts about the magazine (for example, did you know that a black rabbit loves to assist in the printing of the magazine?) in this text illustrated by Julien Castanié, a regular collaborator since issue 1.

Anne-Sophie Tilly and Ariane Cloutier created a comic strip about the creativity a grandmother and her grandson must show to overcome their challenges. 

Anne-Sophie regularly publiques stories and various texts in Grilled Cheese. The Shadow Plays is Ariane’s second collaboration with Grilled Cheese.

4 pages of games by Guillaume Perreault.

After creating games for Grilled cheese a new years ado, Guillaume is back at it in this special issue with a festive seek and find game and a funny maze .

Thomassie Mangiok wrote and illustrâtes Angakkulaaq, a story published in Inuktitut, French and English.

In 2020, Thomassie was the editor-in-chief for the Nunavik issues.

Rosalie Roy-Boucher reinvents the sandwich loaf in A Sandwich Loaf  in the Sunshine, a feel-good story illustrated by Aude Fourest.

Both Rosalie and Aude are regular Grilled Cheese’s collaborators but this story is the first one on which They work together. The result is particularly joyous!

Craft a cake fo the 10th anniversary of Grilled cheese!

Paper-toy specialist, publisher Julien Boisseau created a paper cake you can craft to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Grilled Cheese. You can also find his paper-toys in almost every issue of the magazine.
